Meet Oliver, he is 5 years old and lives in Manitoba, Canada.
On November 26th/2025, Oliver was diagnosed with a rare form of Childhood Cancer. High Risk Neuroblastoma. After an extremely overwhelming 3 days, it had come to show that Oliver is in the late stages as he has had this Cancer for 1.5 years without being detected. Oliver is also Non-Verbal Autistic, and has an extremely high pain tolerance, which is why this has gone undetected for as long as it has. With all of this going on, it turns out that he is a good candidate for a two different Clinical Trials. With these Trials, the doctors will monitor all of his testing, bloodwork etc. and use it for research to try and figure out ways to improve the survival rate of children with this form of Cancer. At the moment it is 50-60% with a goal of trying to increase this number.
Oliver's' Parents have decided to go ahead with these Trials. This decision is making his treatment significantly more expensive as ALL of his treatment HAVE to be done 1.5 hours away from home.
This Go-Fund me is going to be put towards any and all expenses that occur during these Trials. This includes Loss of Income due to hospital trips, any extra expenses due to the prognosis, parking, food, & accommodations while away from home, and of course Oliver's post Chemo cookies.
Now lets get into Oliver's Story.
Oliver was born in Manitoba Canada, is in Grade 1, and turning 6 years old this year. He has 3 older sisters that are his favorite people. Oliver is quite the intelligent young lad that enjoys crafting, math, playdough, and flags. Oliver also enjoys watching certain shows on television like, The Lion King, Moana, Peppa Pig, Masha and Bear, and Tom and Jerry. His favorite food is Pizza, and he LOVES the splash park in the Summer! His favorite colors are blue and yellow, he loves clocks, and is fascinated with numbers and multiplication.
Oliver and his Family moved to Prince Edward Island in 2024 and his symptoms started to show shortly after. His stomach started to expand, and so he was put on a strict diet to help it decrease and it did not appear to work. Then he started showing pain in his knee and hip, to where after seeing the doctor, it was determined that there was no underlying concern. Oliver and his family decided to move back to Manitoba again in 2025. He has been a bit of a frequent flyer this year in our Hospital, with showing signs of pain, but the doctors were unable to come to a diagnosis. On November 25th, Oliver and his Family were out to watch the lighting of the City Christmas Tree, and he was unable to stand. This is not common for him, so they took him back into the Hospital where they took an precautionary X-Ray which showed a concerning black mass on his upper left leg/hip area approx. 3cm in size. They were advised from there to take him into Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg.
Upon arrival to the Hospital, the Montgomery's started their Roller Coaster Experience. They were given the diagnosis of Cancer within about 6 hours or so. The type of Cancer would take 3 days to diagnose. It started with taking an X-Ray of his hip, which they then located a fracture in his hip bone, and then an array of tests followed including multiple MRI's, CT Scans, X-Rays, and a Bone Marrow Test which came back negative. With the results of these tests, they were able to determine a prognosis, and decided to start him on Blood Transfusions, and intensive Chemotherapy, as well as steroids as they had found inflammation on his spine. They found that the Cancer is in his neck, skull, hips, lower spine, arms, legs, and in his bones. The primary location of the Cancer was a tumor located on his adrenal glands, which was operated on and they were able to successfully remove the entire tumor. Now moving forward, the next 18 months are going to be a long journey for little Oliver and his family. He is starting his second round of Chemo on December 22nd, and will complete this round on December 27th. This means that Oliver will be spending Christmas in the Children's Hospital at Health Sciences Center. Although this is quite the diagnosis/journey, Oliver has been in high spirits aside from getting quite tired from the Chemotherapy.
If you are unable to donate, we ask that you share Oliver's Journey and lets see how far we can go with support for this little boy. This could be life altering for Children's Cancer in the future, so lets let everyone know that this is happening and that Oliver is putting up a great fight!
We will post updates as they come, there are still a lot of questions right now, but as time goes on, answers will come.
Let's lift this little boy up and support him and his parents on this Journey.
