Hi, my name’s Oliver. I’m 11, I talk A LOT, I’m a bit nuts, and I lose basically everything except my own head (and even that’s questionable).
I was born super early and super tiny — 4lb 9oz, basically the size of a chicken nugget box. When I was 3, the doctors found out I had a sinus venosus atrial septal defect and a bicuspid aortic valve. Big words. Weird heart. Needed fixing.
So I had open‑heart surgery, and now I’ve got a massive scar down my chest. When I was little, I called it my soldier scar. I don’t call it that now, but I still show it off because it makes me look cool and slightly dangerous.
My heart’s fixed now, but I still go to the hospital every year — and honestly, I LOVE it. I know my way around, I know what I’m doing, I get snacks, AND I get to leave school early. Absolute win.
And Heart Link? They made the hospital fun after my surgery.
They had soft play, toys, and they even gave me a goody bag with a bear. They’re a local charity, and they help kids like me and families like mine.
After my dad and our friend Callum did a half marathon, my mum said maybe I could do something too. She mentioned an inflatable 5K and said I could raise money, so I said, “Alright then… who for?”
I picked Heart Link straight away.
Also, I’m not tiny anymore. I’m “officially average” now — even though I’m still one of the smallest in my class. But that makes them odd, not me.
Oh, and I’m bringing my dad and Callum along for the ride…
so I can show them how to do it Ollie‑style.
Every penny goes to Heart Link.
I started life as a tiny baby with a dodgy heart…
and now I’m an 11‑year‑old with a fixed heart, a big scar, too much energy, and a 5K to smash.
If you donate, you’re basically a legend.
