Oliver says Cancer Sucks

Oliver is our beloved 13 year old Boston Terrier who just found out he has the big C.  :(

He has been a huge part my life since he was 9 weeks old and has been everything from my sleeping buddy, TV watching partner (he loves Daredevil!), co-pilot on car rides, my ring bearer, to most importantly my best friend. I have also shared his antics with all of you via his blog  and Instagram  over the years.

Oliver may be on the older (and blinder) side now but he has a lot of life left in him! He still enjoys nosing his squeaky bone around the dog park, playing tug-of-war with his brother Tandy, and farting with excellent comedic timing on a daily basis.

Over the past month my wife and I have been using what little savings and credit card room we have to take Oliver to specialists, from dermatology, to an ultrasound, to an oncologist, who has done a series of tests on him which have finally lead to the diagnosis of a Mast Cell Tumor in a troublesome growth in his right ear.

Although the cancer word is very scary, Oliver has the best case scenario as is it ONLY in his ear right now and hasn't spread to his organs yet.  If it is not removed it will likely start to spread the cancer to the rest of his body which would significantly decrease his chances of much more quality time left with us as once it spreads he may have only months with us compared to years if it is removed now.

The best course of treatment for him now is a surgery to remove his ear along with the tumor, possibly followed by either chemo or radiation depending on how clean the margins the removal has(our current costs don't cover this possibility). And as we all know health care costs A LOT, especially for a dog who never signed up for ObamaCare.

Oliver's total vet bills will be between $5000 and $6000 with surgery, recovery, and lab fees. We will be scheduling the surgery ASAP on our remaining credit card space so we will be using whatever help we receive to pay those bills right away.

We normally don't like asking for help but after this past month we find that we could use some in trying to improve our lil guys life.

This is where you all come in!  We are asking for a assistance to hopefully cover at least half of his surgery/recovery costs. Anything anyone can donate ($5, $10, $20, $50 [or even $5000?? :)]) would be greatly appreciated. If you aren't able to donate yourself, then please SHARE this with your friends! We aren't of the mind set to just let our little guy get sicker when there is a treatment that can work and prolong his life and his quality of life!
