I am doing this on behalf of my sister & her partner who are going through hell. I wanted to take some of the weight off for them please take your time to read.
This is their story..
Born Sleeping – 18th July 2025, 5:26am | 6lb 4oz
We are heartbroken to share that our beautiful baby boy, Oliver Lee Smith (Ollie), was born sleeping at 38 weeks.
Just days before, we had a healthy scan. Everything looked okay. But on Monday 14th July 2025 our world shattered as we were told there was no heartbeat. On Friday 11th July 2025 I had even asked about the umbilical cord during the scan… only to later find out that a knot in the cord had taken our baby from us. There are no words to explain the pain of hearing those words, then having to deliver your child knowing you’ll never hear their cry.
Our perfect boy had tiny hands, tiny feet, and the sweetest little button nose. He looked so peaceful. So complete. So loved.
We left the hospital with a memory box and a blanket that smells like him — instead of the bundle of joy we had been preparing to bring home to meet his brothers & complete our family.
We are still trying to process this unimaginable loss. The shock, the heartbreak, and the “what ifs” haunt every moment. I’m not ready to talk to many people yet. But I know some of you want to help, and I’m truly grateful for the love and kindness you’ve already shown.
We want to give Ollie the beautiful farewell he deserves — a small, peaceful service to celebrate the short time he was with us and to say goodbye properly. We are also trying to cover the costs that come with this devastating experience, including extra funeral arrangements, and creating a special memorial for our baby boy. We also want to raise money to go towards the incredible bereavement midwives that supported us throughout this.
If you’re able to support us, in any way at all — even by sharing this — we are so thankful. Your kindness means more than we can say.
Ollie, you will forever be a part of us. Your tiny fingers, your peaceful face, and your place in our hearts will never fade. We love you so much.
