Hi my name is Alex and i’m looking for some help for my 2 yr old cat Oliver to have surgery to remove the crystals from his bladder, every place i have reached out to has quoted me 2k-8k and that’s money i don’t have. Oliver is a very sweet cat that loves to play and cuddle, you would assume he’s been around dogs his whole life since he acts like one.
Please help me save my baby.
update: dec 15 at 9:30am oliver is at the vet and he will be there until 8pm. i don't think i have enough for the surgery yet since this vet (my vet i usually go to) didn't give me a price yet, but considering the other prices i got yesterday from other places (including the emergency vet) it ranges from 2k-8k. last night he did pee a bit which means his urethra isn't fully blocked, ideally i would want him to get the surgery so all the crystals can be taken out and so he doesn't have to have a catheter for so long but the vet is going to work with the budget i have from the money that was raised so far. he will probably be getting a 24-48 hour catheter for now to help drain what we can and i will be monitoring him during the day and at night. either he won't need the surgery and will pass the crystals or ideally he will have the surgery and they will remove them. as much as i would prefer him to not have him put under and have to go through surgery i feel it's best since we don't know how big some of the crystals are and he may not be able to pass them on his own even with the catheter, leading to this happening again. since when we first went in and we didn't have much to spend on testing the diagnosis was based off of symptoms but no tests, now the vet is going to do and xray to confirm if his bladder has crystals or a stone which will have to be surgically removed right away (still wasn't given a price yet on the surgery) but best case scenario he won't have a stone and she said they can work with a catheter/ IV/ bloodwork/ and electrolyte panel, for the next three days. They did the xray and there was no stones so now we're going to proceed with the other tests and with the catheter for 3 days to stabilize him and hope he passes the crystals that way. by wednesday we will be able to see if our efforts were successful or if we have to proceed with surgery. hopefully this procedure goes well but we're still not 100% he won't need the surgery by Wednesday, if you can still share the go fund me that would help us out greatly. what we have raised so far will only be able to cover the next three days, again i am forever grateful. i'm estimating the surgery to be 2k-5k worst case scenario but still praying for the best.
Dec 15, 7:30pm:
the tests that came back were not showing good signs but we're hoping the next 3 days of fluids will help him. 250 ended up getting added to the bill at the end because the vet forgot to take into account that they would need to redo the bloodwork and
electrolyte panel. he has some issues with his kidneys and a higher level of potassium which can create heart problems but we’re hoping for the best. this is only if in the end everything comes out good but she said it's not very likely and he will either need to keep the catheter in longer to hope everything flushed out or he will need surgery still. so i'm hoping to raise 5k.
if there is any left over money it will be put into the follow up appointment either later this week or the following week, anything else left over will go into a savings for oliver. i've been riddled with anxiety and have slept for maybe 2-4 hours a night for the past 4 days to make sure he's okay, i'm exhausted. so im sorry for any spelling/grammatical errors. now i finally feel like we’re getting somewhere. so again thank you so so so much to everyone who, like, shared, donated, reached out and did anything they could to help us out. i'm so grateful for all your kindness and help during this hard time.
