Honoring Olga

We want to honor Olga Paniagua's life of generosity and love. She was a woman of deep strength, faith, and caring who dedicated her energy and talents to helping others, in big ways and small.
We are asking you to support a charity that was close to her heart: the Santa Catarina Mita Medical Clinic, though Rotary International. Olga was involved with the San Clemente Rotary Club, and enjoyed being a part of the vibrant community focused on service.
The San Clemente Rotary Club has provided medical assistance to Guatemala for 15 years. Olga participated in this effort from its beginning, in 2002. The effort evolved over the years, and a medical center opened in 2016 to serve the people of Santa Catarina Mita and surrounding villages. Out-of-town doctors visit the Center on selected days to provide general medical services, as well as gynecology, pediatrics, ear/nose/throat, vision, and dentistry. Services are low cost or free, and the Center is operated by a non-profit partner, Fraternidad Catarineca.
The future of the Center is bright. The building has been leased at no cost for 30 years. Over 3,500 people were treated in 2017 alone, and with increasing numbers of patients who pay an affordable low fee or get free service in exchange for community work, the Center can be self-sustaining.
Your donations in Olga’s honor can help bring additional much-needed services to the people of Santa Catarina Mita. Your donation will be the basis of a new fund at the Rotary Club of San Clemente; when the fund reaches $10,000 it will be eligible for matching funds from Rotary, resulting in a total $35,000.
The fund will support additions to the facilities such as a laboratory for blood analysis, a stabilization (recuperation) room, a maternal and delivery room, solar panels, and a Tuc-Tuc for transporting.
We hope you will celebrate Olga's life of beauty, laughter, love, and vivaciousness by giving to those in need.
