My mom, Olga, is currently admitted to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and is fighting for her life.
Her only hope of recovery is to undergo an immediate bilateral trans-tibial amputation. In the coming days she will be losing both of her legs below the knee. Best case scenario is that she will be in the hospital for 2-3 months and coming home to her family, and a wheel-chair accessible home that she can thrive in. However, given her disease, there are a myriad of complications that could affect her healing. None of us know what will happen. But now is the time to show your love for my mom.
As many of you know, Olga has made her living on her feet as a self-employed hairstylist. The tremendous loss that she faces requires our help. We will need to make sure she has a safe and functional home, so she can recover and continue being a source of love to her most cherished treasures, Wyatt, Mara, Dillon and Cora.

To know Olga, is to love her, and we are simply not ready to lose her.
She has stoically fought a battle with scleroderma for nearly 30 years. My mom has never given up. And at 57 years old, she has so much more life to live. She needs our help to keep going.
Scleroderma is an aggressive autoimmune disorder with no cure. This is a really cruel disease that has taken away her fingers and her toes, and now her feet, and her legs. It is through her hands that she has made a life for herself, her kids and now her grandkids. The realization that she will never be able to provide for her family, is unbearable to her, and us. I have told her that it is time for us to care for her now, just as she has selflessly cared for so many for her entire life.
This is an urgent, immediate, and enormous financial situation. If you are able to contribute, your generosity will have a significant and tangible effect on Olga's life. If a donation is unfeasible, please send your well wishes. Right now, your outpouring of love is vital to her success. I can't overstate the urgency of the moment. If there's something you want to say or do or give, do it right now.
These funds will help pay for:
-Medical expenses
-Securing a home that is ADA compliant (as she will be wheelchair bound)
-Family travel to and from Rochester, MN (5 hour drive from her/our home)
-Skilled care and home care to help my mom adjust to not being able to walk and having to relearn every way of taking care of herself to become independent again
Thank you,
Patria
