For the Love of Horses
In Loving Memory of My Sweet Prince Ole—and for the Love of Every Horse
(Please note: All proceeds go to Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital to help horses in need of emergency healthcare.)
Mom would have done anything to save me. Gone to any length. Prayed to any God.
She does still thank the heavens that Pilchuck Veterinary Hospital did go to every length, did do everything they could to save me.
For five days, they never relented in their care, professionalism, and faith that I could pull through. They fought for me; and I fought, too. Believe me, I fought. I wasn’t ready to leave my life, my Mom, and my best friend Q. I loved my life. I wanted to get better. I wanted to go home.
But sometimes we can’t have what we want. When my body failed me, Mom had to let go. I had to let go.
In my own way, though, I’m still here. Mom talks to me every day and she let me know she wanted to find a way to thank those who worked so hard to help us. And a way to keep my legacy alive.
Mom says I gave my heart to everyone I met. It was my gift. She hopes to honor my memory and ever-generous spirit by imploring you to help give even one more horse a chance.
Thank you and love,
Ole
P.S. (from Mom): We were fortunate in that the cost of care was not an obstacle. But everyone’s story and circumstances are unique. And for those horses whose owners may need a helping hand when an emergency arises, our intention is to dedicate the proceeds of this fundraiser to them (via Pilchuck and Veterinary Care Foundation ). #Ole4Life #UnbridledLove #MakeItRein
Please know that no donation is too small. Every bit helps.

$500 - (THIS REWARD HAS BEEN GRANTED AND IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE. THANK YOU, CLAIRE!) 1 photo shoot with photojournalist Sheila Masson in Edinburgh, Scotland, or London, England (shoot does not have to be horse-related and will be per mutual availabilty of photographer and client). Photo below by Sheila:
$350 - 1 original frameable NYC photo from photographer Jason Braun. In his words: "The type of photo I was thinking was a grungy view of Manhattan taken from Brooklyn. It would be a wide angle shot, black and white, and a very apocalyptic, lonely, sad scene. There won't be anyone in the photo, just a small inlet, a few piers, an oil storage container, and some part of Manhattan behind it. Sorry I don't have the picture already. I'm waiting until it snows!" Photo below by Jason.
$300 - (THESE REWARDS HAVE BEEN GRANTED AND ARE NO LONGER AVAILABLE - THANK YOU, TAMMY AND CAMILLE!) Super soft and beautiful grey/brown sheepskin rug donated by Ole's loving Dutch breeder Iris VanWerkhoven. There are two available (they are from Holland) and I am happy to send more photos upon request. Suffice it to say, they are stunning.
$70 - Calmness Based Life: A Practical Guide by Anna Pawel Marciniak. If there are angels on Earth, Anna is one of them. I took her amazing online course and she has donated one of her books for the cause. Her philosophy could change how you view horsemanship altogether. It did for me.
$65 - One hour of editing services (1 available) from Kip Mistral. An internationally-published equestrian journalist and lifelong horsewoman, Kip holds an MA in English, has taught composition and technical writing at the college level, has written more than 100 articles for equine publications, and is the author of the book, Horse Training In-Hand: A Modern Guide to Working from the Ground .
$75 - (THIS REWARD IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE.)
Also donated by horse book publisher and author, Kip Mistral, this gorgeous new brass Kimberwick bit. It is a 5.25" mouthpiece, imported from Hofreitschule Buckeburg in Germany. It includes hangers and chain. (shipping will be an additional $6.10 for USPS Priority Mail in a padded flat rate envelope).
$45 - Personalized horseshoe charm donated by Ole's phenomenal first owner Anneke Bradley-Kloosterman and her lovely jewelery designer wife, Sarah Bradley-Kloosterman. Please indicate "NAME" you would like on charm.
All funds raised will be sent to non-profit Veterinary Care Foundation (which, in turn, will be transfered to Pilchuck Vet Hospital). If you have any questions regarding this, please contact me.
