Old Legs Tour Down Under
An Epic Ride Across WA To Raise Funds For Zimbabwe Pensioners.
With the situation looking more and more grim for pensioners in isolation without medical care in Zimbabwe, some old legs have decided to embark on an epic cycling journey in order to help.
Leaving from Perth WA, the Old legs will cross the south western coastline, riding the Munda Biddi trail and back (over 2000kms). Testing their bodies and minds in an attempt to drum up some funds, which will go directly to vulnerable pensioners that need medical aid, food and necesary supplies.
The ride will support elderly people in Zimbabwe who have been badly impacted by the economic turmoil of the last 10 years.
Many lost their pensions and what they receive today is totally inadequate for their modest needs; many lost their medical aid, and many lost their children who left for greener pastures.
As the fifth old legs tour, following Cape Town, Kilimanjaro, Lockdown Zim, Lockdown SA, the ride will embody the original mantra of the Old Legs; Have Fun, Do Good, Do Epic.
The ride will take place over 2000 kms, the surface on the northern half of the Trail is the distinctive red pea-gravel, whilst the southern forests have a combination of loamy soils and fine white sand.
The journey will take roughly 30 days and will mean our old legs will have to ride for at least 5-6 hours a day in order to reach the finish line. It will be a test of the mind and body, but the cause is worthwhile.
