Old Kilmadock Ogham Stone

Donation protected

After several months of discussion, and with the help of our local councillors and Council Officers, Stirling Council has offered to fund the conservation of the Kilmadock Pictish Stone. This will enable the conservators to stabilise the stone and to attach the 5 fragments into their known positions using a suitable adhesive. All open joints will be sensitively filled or capped with the same adhesive mixed with fine sand and textured or pigmented to match the surrounding stone. All of the conservation work will be photographically documented throughout and would form part of the final conservation report.
More funding will be needed for the Kilmadock Stone to be mounted on a specially constructed cradle and moved into the Stirling Smith Museum so we will be keeping the GFM page open. ROOK is a group of (ageing) volunteers and to date we have spent in excess of £7000 which, without your generous help, would not have been possible.
Thank you to all for donating to the fund to get the Kilmadock Stone out of the ground and to the Conservators in Edinburgh.
A Happy and Healthy 2026 to you all and here’s hoping that 2026 will see this historically important stone in its final resting place.
