This fund raiser is on behalf of my brother Jay and cousin Russell. I'm doing this for them because they are excellent equipment operators, but not too tech savvy. Along with Aaron, they have been keeping Old Barona passable (Jay has been doing this for 35 years!). Sometimes people pitched in to help pay for their gas or their time, but often, they were doing this work for free on their days off or after work. This worked for a long time, but there are just too many cars for this to be sustainable any longer. When the opportunity arose to get free ground asphalt from the Wildcat repave and have it trucked here for free, it was a no-brainer.
Here's what we're collecting for:
- the road needs a fine-ground asphalt top layer (cost of material + trucking to get it here)
- renting equipment (roller at least)
- the gas they've already used in their own equipment and gas they will use to finish the job
- anything left over will be split amongst them for their time and the wear and tear on their equipment
Several neighbors have given Russell or Jay cash already. If you're more comfortable with that option, too, great! They'll use the cash to fill their gas tanks. If you would rather write a check, make it out to Jay McLean or Jane Oftedahl and either give it to the guys on the road directly, or you can put it in my mailbox (it's a locked box). I live at 12925—the yellow house with the white fence up the driveway on the Wildcat end.
