Olallieberry Inn's Chef Dirk

Hello Friends and Guests of the Olallieberry Inn, this is Alanna, sharing heartbreaking and difficult news about our beloved Dirk. Recently, Dirk has been diagnosed with lung cancer that has metastasized into his liver. His doctor has an aggressive treatment plan outlined, and he will be starting chemotherapy next week.

 

I'm reaching out to you, who have known Dirk over the many years andstays at the inn, to lend support to Dirk and his family during this difficult time. Dirk and his family have shown amazing strength and resiliance in facing this horrible news. We have established this GoFundMe page in order to help Dirk in any way we can. All contributions go directly to Dirk and his family.

 

He has said that one of the hardest things about this time is not being able to do what he loves, cooking at the inn -- greeting everyone each morning with a cheery smile and caring conversation, singing and serving his delicious breakfasts! All of us at the inn sincerely hope that he will resume cooking at the inn as soon as he successfully fights his cancer.

 

Again, this is extremely difficult news to relay to you all, but Dirk has been a pillar of strength, is ready to fight hard, and appreciates all the outpouring of love and support. Please don't hesitate to email me to inquire about updates.

 

Meanwhile, the rest of the Olallieberry gang is holding down the fort at the inn and we're trying to fill his big shoes the best we can (minus the singing!).
