FIRST OKLAHOMA Teachers' Car Show

Donation protected
In a clap back to Gov. Mary Fallin's insensitive comparison between teachers and teenagers "wanting a better car," the First Annual OKLAHOMA Teacher Car Show will be held on Saturday, May 12th in the Fuddruckers' parking lot at 10825 E 71st St, Tulsa, OK. Teachers may be driving lemons, but that doesn't mean we can't make some lemonade!

Our ultimate event goal is to raise $50,000 in order to give 50 certified Oklahoma educators at least $1000 to make repairs on their trusty (but battle-weary) teaching-mobiles. TeachersAid.us will retain 5% for operational expenses, and if the donations exceede $50,000, a fund will be created for next year's event.

We will be partnering with corporate sponsors to offer specials and giveaways during the gathering. Neighboring restaurants will also be extending their discounts, so bring your family out to help SUPPORT our valued OKLAHOMA TEACHERS.

Please also bring gas cards, Visa gift cards,Target/Walmart cards, cash, and school/office supplies to drop into your favorite teacher's vehicle-- if the windows will roll down?!

Thanks for helping our teachers get safely to and from school.  Please follow us on our Facebook Pages at teachersaid.us and I Support Oklahoma Teachers .  Be sure to register also on our Facebook event .

About TeachersAid.us:

Teachers on America’s frontier often depended on their community for assistance for their survival.  Traditionally, apples were given to teachers as a type of payment or as a gift by students’ parents.  We are witnessing in real time the need for our community to once again step-up and provide both financial and emotional assistance to our nation’s dedicated professional educators.  The mission of TeachersAid.us is simple: We strive to Support Those Who Support Our Children.

Teachers in Oklahoma are involuntarily grazing the bottom of the barrel.  In the past decades, salaries have remained stagnant, and they have consistently suffered funding cuts to their classrooms.  Such deficiencies, combined with the demoralizing lack of professional respect, have prompted many veteran instructors to walk away from their meaningful work and toward more life-sustaining wages.  Inspiring younger teachers aren’t compelled to stay long enough to make a lasting impact while neighboring states are offering alluring incentives to draw mobile educators out of Oklahoma.

Our intentions are to provide a platform for the community to assist when and however they can.  A simple thank you, the sharing of a story about a teacher’s impact, purchasing a cup of coffee to start a teacher’s day, providing a tank of gas to get them to work, the treat of an unhurried meal with their family, a gift of a new outfit for picture day, assistance with a family emergency or unexpected medical expenses, or sponsorship with their own educational pursuits can all make teachers feel truly appreciated and energized to serve beyond the limitations imposed upon them.
