My name is Oksana. I am a twenty-five-year-old pianist. I've spent my last three months practicing day and night here in Europe to prepare for charity concerts where I played for my beloved Ukraine and the Ukrainian people. I'd like you to please read why I had to leave my war-torn country and the purpose of this fundraiser. I’d kindly ask you to bear with me for a few minutes and let me tell you my story.
I never expected it to happen, but it did.
Back in Lviv, as a Ukrainian pianist, I was raised by a single mother who dedicated her life to a local church. I was a graduate student at Lviv Conservatory. I had hobbies like working out and modeling. I worked as a local guide for tourists to financially support myself, especially during the summer, and played classical piano once a month at Hotel Nobilis' Piano Bar. I didn't complain about much of my life, during which I focused my efforts on becoming a great pianist by studying for hours every day and performing for tourists. Until that day...
I was out of the country visiting a friend when the unexpected war broke out. Even though I had a return ticket to Lviv, I could not return because many people I knew were trying to leave the country, and the airports were not functioning. I realized that I might not return to Ukraine for a long time, and at that moment, I started to think about where I should start. First, a Catholic priest temporarily invited me to a charity event in Denmark. This offer marked the start of my journey out of Ukraine. I accepted their kind invitation without hesitation, and the second chapter of my life officially began thanks to the generosity of the people of Denmark. Since appearing on one of the major Danish TV stations and performing live for fundraising, I've gotten numerous invites to charity events for Ukraine across Europe, and I played for my beloved Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.
What is my current situation?
I'm staying as a temporary guest in an apartment in Malaga, Spain, thanks to the kindness of a person whom I gave a tour of Lviv. I applied for temporary protection in Spain and secured a two-year stay. However, my stay in Spain is only temporary and limited.
Why am I organizing this fundraiser?
I'm starting a new life in Europe; honestly, I don't have any savings. I left everything in Ukraine and now need a permanent location to live and work to make a life. The good news is that I was recently accepted into a master's program at the Royal Academy of Music in Antwerp, Belgium. I have the opportunity to pursue a profession as a pianist, and I can spend most of my time learning and practicing.
"The money I raise here will go for my tuition, lodging, board, and some basic needs in the beginning. More significantly, I plan to utilize part of this money to create a YouTube musician account. I also want to set up a Patreon account to create unique music videos for my followers and make my Instagram account more professional. I am considering collaborating with a professional recording and production studio to create professional classical music videos to build a community and earn a living while spending most of my time studying piano. I'm asking for your help with all of these essential survival needs and getting started on something worthwhile in my life. If I can gather enough money, I'll be able to conduct charity concerts for my beautiful Ukraine and help my people in any way I can."
I am confident that you will support me. You have no idea how much your support, encouragement, and prayers mean to me during these challenging times. I’ll keep all the donors updated and keep them in my prayers.
Sincerely Yours,
Oksana
