Our 5 year old daughter Makayla has superior oblique palsey, a condition that causes her right eye to be drawn up. In the last 6 months her left eye has drawn into towards the middle. She has recently become very aware of her apperance & has oftentimes chosen to wear sunglassses when indoors. When I ask her to take them off she just points to her eyes & says 'I don't want people to stare at me.' She no longer wants to have her picture taken as it's become more & more obvious. It is very sad that she is so self conscious. Surgery is necasary as her vison will eventually weaken if left as is. The symmetry of her face can also be affected as she tilts her head to compensate for the difference in her eyes. Her surgery is scheduled  for Jan 27th 2015. We found out at her last appointment they will be doing surgery on horizontal & vertical muscles of both eyes. My husband & I are humbly asking for help from family & friends that are able to make a contribution. Honestly I'm uncomfortable even posting on here, but we've had so many loved ones encourage us to ask for help.  Thank you for considering our request.
