Brendon Alexander Jenkins was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma on Tuesday, February 24th - just shy of his 21st birthday.
Devastating news for any parent.
As the father of a 7yr. old daughter currently undergoing treatment for leukemia, I understand the unimaginable heart break, shock and disbelief that diagnosis delivers. Fortunately, his prognosis is positive and his form of blood cancer is highly treatable.
Brendon is strong, his spirit burns brightly and he has big dreams. He's majoring in Graphic Arts at Sacramento City College and plans to become a video game designer. The kid is obsessed with video games! But when he's able to put the controller down, I also know he has a passion for something else...
People.
When Brendon showed up last November with his mom on a cold, misty, Saturday morning to support my daughter for a walk/run cancer fundraiser, I learned everything I needed to know about his heart and compassion for others.
He cares. And he cares deeply.
Brendon's journey started last week when he had surgery to implant his Medi-Port device so he could begin treatment.
It requires a wide net of support to care for a child with a life-threatening disease. The next 6 months will be the most challenging of his, and his family's, life...and they could use your help.
We're raising funds on behalf of Brendon and his family to help cover medical costs. Your generous support will do wonders to alleviate the financial burden. No amount is too small.
Thank you for all of your prayers, thoughts and sentiments...each one counts.
We love you Brendon and know you're going to beat this!
With deepest gratitude and appreciation,
