To start simply my name is Shaylee and we are the Walkers. My father is an oilfield man and my mother is a nurse. While my mom does work we mainly live off of my dads income. Working in the oil industry can sometimes require weeks or even months away from your family at a time and our mom works nights so we don't get to spend a lot of family time together. We've had to lean on each other to get through recent events and we need to ask for a little help. Approximately 6 months ago the oil field crashed and when it did my dad lost his job. Due to my dads job lost we could no longer afford my higher education and I withdrew from my courses and moved back home. I picked up a job making copys, my younger brother picked up a job at a furniture warehouse and my mom has started working 6 days in a row, 12 hour shifts just to make ends meet. We've been living off of my mother's income and what savings my dad had been putting away. Here in the next month or so that money will be gone and we'll be thousands short on our bills. You see this was almost a problem solved..my dad got a job in the oilfield and would start work on May 16, 2016, however on May 7, 2016 my dad suffered a terrible accident. While clearing tree debris one of the trees had to much built up pressure and snapped. When this happened the tree pinned my father to the ground. The force behind the tree caused my dad to shatter his tibia, fibula, and both ankle bones in his left leg. On May 8, 2016 he underwent surgery to have two metal plates and 10 screws inserted into the bones to stabilize his leg and begin the healing process. It requires 8 weeks of no weight bearing..as I'm sure you can guess this means no oilfield job..which means we went from alright to rock bottom. I will be working extra shifts to help cover bills, my brother will be as well and so will our mom. We will be selling our possessions but this still won't be enough. The medical bills alone will swarm us..It may only be 2 months of recovery but the oil field is finicky and chances of another opportunity is slim. We are in desperate need of help and any amount would help tremendously and be so very much appreciated..Thank you for you time and generosity.
