With the loss of Ohm-N due to a fire, not only did the owner (Dennis Balesdent) suffer, but so did its customers, the community of Stellarton, and ultimately all those who appreciate music. That's because Ohm-N represented what the music industry should always be. With its status as an independently run store, it went against the grain of time and fought the rampant commercialization of the 21st century.

If entrepreneurs like Dennis stopped taking risks, standardization would continue to destroy any form of unique expression, and genuine passion people have. Should we, as a community, let this happen because of some chance event? No. While the goods of Ohm-N are replaceable, what isn't are the memories made that were made there, and the feeling one got when witnessing the passion Dennis had for all facets of music. Through his unmatched servicing of audio equipment, all customers were ensured that they got the biggest bang for their buck.

While this post may sound like a eulogy, it's actually a rallying cry to the community of Pictou County to come together and help in this time of need. Because only us, the appreciators of music, the loyal customers of Ohm-N, and friends of Dennis, can band together and bring his shop back. If competing businesses, online retail, and even the Coronavirus itself couldn't stop Ohm-N, why the hell should we let a fire?

However, the greatest asset to Ohm-N, its independence, is the reason this GoFundMe page exists. Because of its independent status, Dennis sacrificed fire insurance in order to give more to the customer. Therefore all the hard work Dennis put into servicing the community will be his insurance. Because we, the customers, want to see this establishment thrive and prosper again, I'm asking you to donate anything you can towards its rebuilding.
