Help Ohio State Boxing get to Nationals!

Donation protected
After the NCAA disbanded boxing in 1960, the NCBA (National Collegiate Boxing Association) formed shortly thereafter. Today, boxing clubs across the country compete year-round under their purview at the highest level of collegiate boxing, culminating in the National Championship Tournament every April. Boxers work hard to earn their spot to travel to Charlotte, North Carolina for this event, but due to the lack of funding from schools for club sports, expenses like travel, equipment, coaching, etc. are purely self-funded.

Your Ohio State Buckeyes have qualified 4 fighters for this year's National Tournament, and they are now attempting to source funds in order to accept their national bids and compete for a title. After having their first ever National Champion in Eddie Son last year, and numerous accolades continuing to flow in, your help with this growing Buckeye Boxing program could be a part of something great.

165 LB. Men's Division - Eddie Kubit
The first fighter to qualify for Nationals is one of the team's captains, Eddie Kubit. Eddie is a returning National qualifier, attending the 2023 tournament, and boasts a hard-fought 7-6 record. He also just won the NCBA Midwest Regional Tournament while becoming the first Ohio State Boxer to win the tournament's prestigious Most Outstanding Boxer award. His relentless style and dedication to the sport and team make him a dangerous contender for a National title and he has more than earned the right to fight for one.

112 LB Women's Division - Nicoleta Durlesteanu
Nicoleta is in her first year of amateur boxing competition, but she fights like she was born in the ring. With a 5-0 career record compiled just this school year, she's a fearless fighter who also punched her ticket to the national tournament as a Midwest region champion. She has the college boxing landscape on notice, and she is ready to bring a belt back to Columbus.

132 LB Women's Division - Ella Yi
As the team's other captain, Ella has spent this year tirelessly working to get herself and her teammates the opportunity to fight amongst the best in Charlotte, and after finishing 3rd in the region, she more than deserves the chance. With a 3-4 amateur boxing record and a history of combat sports dating back to her youth, Ella presents a challenge for any opposition that stand in the way of her national title run.

156 LB Women's Division - Carmen Pape
Like Nicoleta, Carmen is in her first year of competition and has also established herself as a force in her weight class. With a 3-1 record against some of the Nation's toughest college boxers and a Midwest Regional Championship to her name, she has a tough and relentless fighting style that can take her all the way to the top this April.

These fighters have worked hard all year to secure funding to get them to this point while also training in the sweet science (which is no simple task). However, the final step in fulfilling their goals presents the hardest funding task yet. In order to travel to Charlotte, secure sleeping accommodations, medical supplies and hand wraps, and coaching, our fighters are asking for your help. They would be grateful for any help you could kindly offer them in their quest for NCBA belts.

More information on the fighters and our program is available on Our Instagram. Feel free to reach out there with other questions about how or why to help!
