My daughters' love for theater and acting inspired them to volunteer with a program called the Exceptional Theater Company.
The ETC is a not-for-profit organization that inspires personal growth by teaching theatrical skills to the special needs community. This unique program is one of the few outlets offered to the adult special needs population.
With the support of the amazing principal and teachers at Olympic Heights High School, the girls have created a club that allows the students in their school to experiance the joys of helping others in the community to express themselves through theater. Ultimately, they would love to have a chapter of The Exceptional Theater Company at their school so that the hundreds of students with special needs that attend Olympic Heights could have the opportunity to be enriched by this program. With the guidance of the wonderful staff of ETC, this inclusion program helps those with special needs by demonstrating techniques in improvisation, movement and music. The program is designed to improve self-help skills, build confidence, and advance socialization while stimulating free-thinking. They hope to raise enough money to purchase musical instruments, costumes, equipment, and more to help better this program. Seeing the smiles and determination of the participants involved in the program has been such an amazing gift and we couldn't be more proud to be a part of this organization.
