Oh Sh!t -Short Film Fund by Kate Mansi

An overachieving actress battles food poisoning, a surprise period, and an overzealous intimacy coordinator - all while trying to literally not sh*t herself, just to get the shot.

THE STORY

Oh Sh!t is based on a true story - mine. On April 1, 2025, the eve of our final day of shooting an indie film, I was hit with brutal food poisoning. We’d already battled blizzards, delays, and I refused to be the reason we didn’t finish. So, armed with Pedialyte, Pepto, and pure determination, I pushed through. The only scene left? A sex scene.

By the time I arrived on set, it became clear I wasn’t alone. Our crew started dropping like flies, one after another. Somehow, everyone made the same unspoken decision: we were getting the shot, no matter what. A true comedy of errors ensued : a makeup trailer full of chaos, an intimacy coordinator and co-star lovingly over-prepping while all I could think was, "Please don't let me sh*t on Shariff" !

THE IMPACT

That day was a disaster, yet also, strangely, beautiful. It reminded me of the resilience, absurdity, and total teamwork that defines indie filmmaking. I knew I wanted to turn it into something - but only if I could do it with the same crew who lived it with me. This short is a way for all of us to close the loop and make something hilarious out of something horrifying.

I’ve never written, produced, and starred in something of my own, but when my friends JJ Nolan (actor/producer), and indie filmmaker Courtney Pape offered to help - I knew it had to be done. I’m beyond grateful to have Courtney co-write and direct with her signature comedic tone, and to bring this to life alongside a truly incredible cast!

As a native Angeleno, I am so proud to shoot my first short film in my hometown, the city that made me. And to support bringing our industry back to its roots: creative, collaborative, and scrappy.
