Ogoh-Ogoh The Karmic Questioner has been chosen to be represented as a big Balinese art installation at this years Burning Man. With Balinese karma and the spirit of gifting at Burning Man, the Ogoh-Ogoh prompts deep introspection about our journeys and the significance of giving back.

Serving as a cleansing tool, it purges negativity and fosters self-reflection, mirroring the solemnity of Nyepi Day in Bali—a day of silent contemplation, renewal and gratitude.

This endeavor isn't just about transporting an art piece (although yes... that's a big portion of the funding!); it's also about bridging cultures and creating connections. The Balinese community holds the Ogoh Ogoh dear, and your support would not only honor their culture but also spread its profound message of compassion and self-awareness.

The Fundamentals…
The Ogoh-Ogoh is crafted from a diverse array of materials, including chicken wire, metal, plaster for molding, brightly colored paint, bamboo, and rattan. Its base is constructed from plywood and a lumber frame firmly anchored to the Playa. A wooden structure forms the small temple positioned in front. The core structural form comprises welded and bent metal, serving as a sturdy foundation. This is then enveloped in a bamboo skeleton fuselage, reinforced with wire, material, and plaster for added durability and aesthetic appeal.

Interactivity
While it remains a static structure for observation, there will be soundscapes of vibrant Gamelan music which emanates from within, immersing viewers in an auditory journey. There will be two small standing temples stand in front, one housing a permanent offering and the other inviting participants to contribute their own offerings. This creates a space for communal engagement and reflection.

What We Need to Make This Happen
Ogoh-Ogoh The Karmic Questioner will cost over $30K to create, ship, produce and maintain during the event.

We as an art collective are so very grateful to the Burning Man Honoraria Project for granting us $15K grant to get this project started.

We are seeking an additional $20K from our community (that's you) to help spread the Balinese culture to share with thousands and thousands of people that come all over the world to attend this event.
