Its been two years the last time my husband, father, friend and Pastor had to visit Duke Hospital. But on Sunday, March 1, 2015 - Marvin woke up feeling sick in his abdominal area. After throwing up, drinking Ginger Ale, and sleeping; the pain only got worse. That evening Marvin begain to complain that he was very dizzy. My girlfriend Coco brought over the blood pressure cup and his pressure read 75/44.
Marvin was then rushed to Duke Hospital by ambulance and after a series of tests (MRI, EKG, Xray), the doctors came back with the report of a mild heart attack and Marvin was admitted to Duke for observation. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday passed by and then the doctors come with the report that his gallblatter was inflamed and surgery was scheduled for Friday, March 6 @ 8am.
Friday, March 6, 2015, surgery started at 9:05am and lasted for 3.5 hours. A success surgery was the report from Dr. Vann and as soon as he awakened, they could transport him to room 2124. When Marvin returned to his room, the spririt of excitement came over me because I could now take my husband home and await his full recovery. But on Sunday, March 8, 2015 as I arrived to his room, things did not look too good. The doctors reported that Marvin was short of breath, fluid on his lungs, his oxygen level was low, and he had not released any fluid since surgery. At that point a call was made to his doctors. After more examinations, they determined that Marvin's kidney was not working which was normal for diabetics patients after surgery. The doctors then ordered medicine to help jump start his kidneys and after serveral bags of that, Marvin kidneys were still not working. Know what I know, this was an attack on his body and a call was made to Pastor Mark & Annie Troublefield to sound the alarm of intercessiors to pray for Marvin's kidney to live and not die!
Its Tuesday evening and there are signs that Marvin kidney are improving but its not where the doctors want his kidney to be but we give God thanks for the signs. Marvin has a long road ahead of him will need to stay in the hospital so the kidney specialist can monitor his progress. They are not speaking dialsysis but total healing and complete restoration.
I want thank everyone for your support, prayers, message through facebook, email, messenger and phone calls. I want to thank the Staff of Duke Hospital, Bishop Steven Banks (spiritual covering/Best Friend), & Roger McClain, Pastor Mark (for sitting and praying for my husband) & Pastor Annie Troublefield for standing on the walls of intercession, the members of Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, (Durham, NC), Restoration Christian Church (Newport News, VA)and the intercessory ministry, Riley Hill Baptist Church (Wendell, NC), Rising Mount Zion Baptist Church (Sandston, VA), First Baptist Church (Midlothian, VA), Guildfield Baptist Church (Powhatan, VA), Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church (Midlothian, VA), all of our Pastor friends near and far, our family and many friends and last but not least Durham Public Schools who has allowed me to work 1/2 days so that I can be with my husband; thank you.
Many of you have called and asked how you could help our family. Right now Marvin's medical expense has top a price of over 100,000.00 (healthcare pays 70%) and that does not include what may occur down the road. His medicine is 300.00 month. Your donations big or small will help take the medical financial load off of Marvin, myself, Marya, Latoya, Mali and Lauren.
Thank you for being the wind under our wings through your prayers and donations.
