Help an OFW Single Mom Recover from Tragic Hit-and-Run
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jamaica, and I’m writing this with a broken heart.
My mother Irene is a single mom and a hardworking Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) currently based in Nigeria. She has spent her entire life working tirelessly to provide for me and my sister. Since we were little children, she carried all the responsibilities on her own—just so we could go to school, have food on the table, and build a better future. She gave up her comfort, her time, and even being with us growing up, all so we could have a chance at life.
But now, the person who has given us everything… needs help more than ever.
On September 1, 2025 she went out to buy food. While she was crossing at a pedestrian lane, she was suddenly hit by a speeding motorcycle in a hit-and-run accident. She was thrown off the road from the impact and lost consciousness.
And the most heartbreaking part?
The person who hit her didn’t even stop—he didn’t check if she was okay, didn’t call for help, just left her there like she was nothing.
Thankfully, a few kind-hearted bystanders saw what happened and immediately rushed her to the hospital. But the damage was already done. She has suffered multiple bone fractures, head injuries, and deep cuts.
Doctors have said she needs emergency surgery, and I know that even after that, the recovery process will take years before she can even walk again. It will be a long and painful journey.
What hurts even more is that she’s all alone in a foreign country. She has no family there to take care of her. As her daughter, it breaks my heart that I can’t be by her side during this time. She does have some friends in Nigeria who are doing what they can to help, but they also have their own struggles and limitations.
Right now, we are overwhelmed by hospital bills, surgery costs, and long-term recovery expenses. That’s why I’m reaching out to you with humility and hope in my heart. Please, if you can, help us. Any amount—no matter how small—can make a difference in my mom’s life and helping her recover.
And more than anything, we ask for your prayers—for her healing and for strength.
My mom gave up everything for us. Now it’s our turn to fight for her.
Thank you so much for your time, your support, and your compassion. Please share this with others who might be able to help. Your kindness means the world to us.
Update:
The surgery has been completed successfully. However, the medical bill has now increased to over $8,000 USD, and unfortunately, there is no insurance coverage to help with the costs.
We are truly grateful for all the support so far, and any additional help—whether through donations or by sharing this fundraiser—would mean the world to us during this difficult time.
May the Lord be the one to return your kindness a hundredfold. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts. God Bless.
Thank you to everyone who donated offline and to all who kept us in their prayers.
