Hello!
My name is Misty Edwards, and my husband is Mike. We have two boys 14 and 8. Mike started to get very sick in November with severe pains in his abdomen, and lost 36 pounds. After months of going to the ER and to a GI doctor and having an endoscopy, we finally landed in the hospital with Mike being VERY anemic. They called in another GI doctor and thank God for that! He did a colonoscopy which revealed nothing, but promised me he would find out what was wrong, and I believed him! He had Mike swallow a camera capsule and low and behold it got stuck and they found lesions. He was scheduled for emergency surgery, and they thought it was Crohns or Meckles Diverticulum. Well......it wasn't. It was a VERY large tumor and they were pretty positive it was cancerous. It did come back positive, but they were able to remove it all. They also cut out a small piece of his small intestine that came back Melanoma as well. They also found a spot on his head that was removed. It is very rare for Melanoma to be internal and especially in men Mike's age. He went for his PET scan on 4/10/2015 and we are in contant prayer that this will come back negative for cancer anywhere else. Worse case scenario is he will have to go to Vanderbilt because they don't treat this type in our area. We are financially strapped because I am the only one working as of right now, and Mike was our breadwinner. We have our regular bills, plus all of his medical bills, and I have had to swallow my pride as of late and ask for help from some family and our church family. We could use any and all help!!!! ANYTHING would be very much appreciated!!!
