On Monday, August 11th, 19-year-old Ofie was flown to Sacramento with a critically low blood count and covered in random bruises. She has had several platelet and blood transfusions, and her medical team is still unclear on the cause. Ofie is athletic, spunky, and a hard worker who already has her own place. Her mother will need to help pay Ofie's bills due to her missed work while missing work as well. Ofie is also on her mother's insurance, which we all know is not good in this area. While the family is still unclear on the final cost after she is finally released from the hospital, it is clear that the bill will be very high. After transfusions, Ofie's platelet count is still returning to critically low. Normal range is 145,000-450,000, while Ofie's platelet count is 15,000. This is an incredible family and an amazing young adult. I am asking for help to reduce financial worries so they can focus on Ofie's health and healing.
