As some of you may know I suffer from a kidney disease known as Polycystic kidney disease (PKD) which is an inherited disorder. It affects my kidneys causing them to enlarge and lose function over time. I was diagnosed in my late twenties and have experienced only mild symptoms during the past twenty years.

However, recently my symptoms have increased in severity including muscle weakness, chronic fatigue and muscle cramps in my legs and hands. I went to see my kidney specialist where I was informed that my condition had taken a dramatic turn for the worse and that I am experiencing the advanced stages of kidney failure and my kidneys no longer work well enough to keep me alive. My treatment options are limited to dialysis treatments or a kidney transplant.

The funds will be used to offset lost wages and expenses during the recovery period. My recovery period will require many visits to the Mayo clinic over several weeks, which will include gas, food lodging and loss wages for myself and my wife. There are also thousands of dollars of out of pocket medical expenses that are involved in the transplant process as well as ongoing treatment.
