Offset Lengthy Hospital Stay Costs for Alyssa!

With the family’s blessing, I’ve started this GoFundMe for Alyssa Leonard to help offset the many costs that a family incurs when a child is inpatient for an extended amount of time.
As most of you know, Alyssa was diagnosed in 2005 with several inoperable brain tumors and has since had many, many complications stemming from that cancer diagnosis.
Currently, Alyssa is in PICU at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Scottish Rite campus, fighting for her life.
Alyssa became very sick Saturday, August 3rd with a high fever while she and her family were in Florida. They headed back Sunday morning, but never made it home due to Alyssa becoming sicker. They had to make an emergency stop in Columbus, Georgia at Piedmont Hospital. From there, they did testing, found out she had pneumonia, and she was sent to CHOA Scottish Rite hospital. Since arriving Monday morning, Alyssa has been in a great deal of pain. She has been mostly unresponsive and she has started seizing. She coded early Tuesday morning, and doctors confirmed she is in kidney failure. Alyssa is also septic and the doctors believe she has a blood clot on her lungs. They’ve put in a PICC line so they can administer medication without further damaging her veins.
Right now, they have stabilized her, but she is a very sick little girl. The current prognosis is that this can go either way. Alyssa has been fighting this disease and all of the complications that have come with it for nearly 16 years. She is tired, she is sick, but SHE IS A FIGHTER.
Funds raised through this page will go towards gas costs for her family to travel back & forth to the hospital, food costs during their stay and any other extraneous costs that accrue during their lengthy hospital stay. Taking an edge off of any financial stress that may arise allows the family to focus on Alyssa in order to be by her side and pull through this devastating time.
