The show of support from you, our members, to our community has been overwhelming. Because of the outpouring of feedback from you, we have set up this official method to contribute to all the hourly and commissioned staff affected by the COVID-19 club closures. Hourly and commissioned staff includes our coaches, instructors, front desk, restaurant, and more. Please see the below FAQs for details.
Who will receive these funds?
100% of the proceeds from this GoFundMe campaign will go to hourly and commissioned staff at Midtown Palatine affected by the COVID-19 closures.
How will the funds be split up?
We will distribute funds to all hourly and commissioned staff, based on their average weekly hours worked over the past 6 months.
I want to contribute. How much is appropriate?
It’s completely up to you. Many members are thinking about contributing the same amount as their normal monthly dues.
Does this contribution count as my membership dues?
These contributions are not membership dues. We will not charge any dues before the planned re-opening in April, and do not plan to charge dues while the club is closed. Your membership is effectively on hold until the club re-opens. Your contribution here, or lack thereof, does not affect your membership status in any way.
Can I use club credit to contribute to this fund?
Unfortunately, no. We want to make sure we protect our staff’s ability to apply for government benefits. By managing the funds through GoFundMe, it will not interfere with their eligibility for those benefits.
When will the staff receive these funds?
We will distribute the funds once we reach our goal. If we are unable to reach the goal by April, we will distribute the funds at the beginning of the month.
Why is your goal $35,000?
GoFundMe requires us to set a specific dollar amount goal for the campaign. The truth is, we don’t have an exact dollar goal in mind. Our goal is to provide an avenue for members to contribute to staff. The number we chose approximates one week of hourly and commissioned payroll at the club.
I’ve seen some other GoFundMe pages for Midtown staff. Can I contribute to those instead?
You are free to donate wherever you prefer. That said, we cannot guarantee any other GoFundMe campaign will benefit the affected staff. This is the only official GoFundMe campaign for Midtown Palatine.
What about other Midtown clubs?
We have created separate campaigns to support each club. If you want to contribute to a different club, please search for that club name on GoFundMe’s platform.
