I have set up this GoFund me on behalf of and in the name of my brother, Chautauqua County Correction Officer, Thomas Slate. Tom was diagnosed in September with Amyloidosis in his heart, liver, kidneys and bone marrow, as well as high-risk smoldering myeloma. Very quickly he became physically unable to work. Extremely fortunate to have quickly been accepted into a treatment plan at Roswell Cancer Center he has recently begun his second cycle of chemotherapy and will continue for an additional 3-4 cycles (each cycle consisting of chemo once a week for 4 weeks). He will then undergo a stem cell transplant.

Tom has been with the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office for 15 years. He is a 25 year Veteran of the ARMY having fought in Desert Storm as well as having served during many other deployments. He is an amazing father of three and expecting his first grandchild in January 2022. He is very much loved son, and my only brother.

Tom has an honorable history of service to both our country and community. Currently receiving several rounds of chemotherapy Tom is traveling back and forth to Roswell for treatments and appointments. He will be out of work for up to a year. An in person benefit to raise funds to help Tom with expenses incurred while fighting this rare disease and being unable to work will take place on November 13th ,2021 at the Cassadaga American Legion Post 1280 on Maple Ave in Cassadaga NY hosted by Sashene Barber and Tara Graves.

While the event in November will host a cornhole tournament, live music by Ion Sky and Tim Bartlett, food, a Chinese Auction and other activities , cash donations are needed and so greatly appreciated.
