Officer Roberts in Critical Care
Donation protected
The family of Marine Veteran and Smyrna, TN Police Officer, Jason Roberts is asking for the support of our community while he is fighting for his life in critical care.
As an officer for the city of Smyrna, TN, Jason has served his community for several years in true hero style. From talking people down from potential suicide attempts to general safety patrol throughout the city, Jason has devoted his life to the people around him. On top of all of that he is a loving, present and devoted husband and father of two young children, Liam and Reagan. Unfortunately, we now have to call on these same members of our community for assistance.
The day after Thanksgiving Jason was diagnosed with Covid, and on Dec. 3rd he was admitted into the hospital with Covid Pneumonia. Just four days later he had to be intubated, and the following day the doctors made it clear that an ECMO machine was going to be needed but that there are only a few in the state. Within 2 hours he was able to get one with it being very rare for him to be chosen, but he was seen as a perfect candidate.
Jason is currently at Vanderbilt under some of the best care our state has to offer. We have been notified however, that it will most likely be a few months of waiting with him on the ECMO and that he will need several months of physical therapy after that. As we all know too well, this sort of care will bring on numerous medical bills and other financial difficulties.
His wife, Samantha, is currently staying with her parents along with their two children and three dogs. As a stay at home mother with a true love and passion for her children, Samantha currently homeschools Liam and Reagan. Any donation made to the family will go straight to her to keep medical bills at bay and keep their family safe and up to date on all additional finances.
There is also a Meal Train set up for the family which you can find at:
I know we are all missing his bad dad jokes and sarcastic sense of humor as his two young children have to cope with a Christmas without their father this year. It truly is heartbreaking.
We hope that you will all keep Officer Jason and the whole Roberts family in your hearts and prayers as we wait on our hometown hero to return home.
