Officer Nate Lyday

On May 28, 2020, Ogden Police Officer Nate Lyday  was shot and killed while responding to a domestic violence call. The shooting happened exactly one year to the day of being sworn into office. He was just 24 years old.

Nate and his wife, Ashley, were married on June 6, 2015 and were excited to celebrate their 5th wedding anniversary. They were also in the process of purchasing their first home and were looking forward to an amazing future together. Nate grew up in Ogden, he attended Ogden High School and Weber State University.

Nate loved what he did and will be remembered as a hero, as well as a great husband, son and friend.

"A warrior, a guardian and public servant, officer Lyday sacrificed his life on behalf of the threatened and fearful family at the scene, the citizens of Ogden in the immediate area, the greater Ogden community and fellow law enforcement officers who were with him," said Police Chief Randy Watt.

Although funeral expenses are already covered, we are hoping to provide some financial relief for his family during this difficult time.
