Officer Matthew Larsh's Road To Recovery

Donation protected
As many of you may know, on April 21st of 2022, Officer Larsh (my father), a United States Marine Corps Veteran and a motorman for Miami-Dade PD was involved in a head on collision with an SUV. At the time he was heading to headquarters for a training exercise, when the SUV all of a sudden turned out in front of him, blocked his right of passage and caused a terrible accident. On collision he was launched 30 feet far and 20 feet high, landing on his legs, hips and arms. On impact he sustained an open compound fracture to his left foot, tibial plateau fracture on his left leg, multiple lacerations down to the bones on both legs, hands and arms, compound fracture to the patella on his left knee, open book pelvic fracture, abrasions to his bladder, hematoma on the pancreas, and blunt force trauma to the aorta of the heart, and an open, dislocated compound fracture of the right elbow. Fortunately, my fathers life was saved that day in a joint effort by the brave men and women of Miami-Dade Police Department, Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and the world class doctors and nurses in the trauma unit at Jackson Ryder Trauma Center, where he remains in ICU til this day. Upon, arrival at Jackson he was immediately placed into trauma surgery where they were able to address all life threatening injuries and save my fathers life by placing a stent in the aorta. While remaining intubated and sedated he fought for his life as hard as possible with the assistance of world class medical experts. My father experienced 2 more major surgeries, 3 in total, throughout that day and to date, has undergone 6 major surgeries to stabilize all life threatening injuries with many surgeries to come. As a family we reach out to anyone reading this, in a serious time of need, asking for help on our journey to a full and healthy recovery (approximately 9-12 months of recovery and another year of therapy and physical rehab). As a two income household, this accident has left our family distraught, confused, and uncertain of what's to come. My father remains in critical condition at the ICU and with out 2 sources of income my parents risk losing everything they've worked so hard to build in their 28 years of marriage. Given that my mom is my fathers main caregiver and the second provider for our household, this puts a strain on our family as she must work to provide the help, assistance and time my father needs to properly recover and heal. From outstanding medical bills and many other financial unknowns we humbly reach out to the community he's worked so hard to protect, for help in these unprecedented times of need. Any donations given will be used and allocated to help the well-being and recovery of my father. We thank you for taking your time today to follow our story and are thankful for any and ALL donations. We truly appreciate all the love, support and prayers we have already received. God bless.
