Officer Dave's Medical Expenses

On August 2, 2023, there was a serious bike collision during the road race event at the World Police and Fire Games in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Seven riders were seriously injured, including Dave Gillis, a retired Staff Sargeant from the Toronto Police Service. His injuries include significant pelvic injury that required surgery. He is the last of the riders still in a Winnipeg hospital.

Dave is currently recovering and receiving physiotherapy in Winnipeg until he is able to fly back home to Toronto, Ontario. Although he has made significant progress, Dave still has a long road ahead.

Since the incident, Dave's family has incurred significant expenses. such as airfare to and from Toronto, hotel stay, transportation to and from the hospital, etc. Further expenses will continue when he returns to Toronto.
