Officer Cody Carpenter was injured in the line of duty on 02/20/2021 while conducting a traffic stop on a vehicle possibly linked to a kidnapping suspect. Cody was in a unit with Officer Brandon Ray. Cody approached the driver side of the vehicle and the suspect shot Cody multiple times. His partner, Officer Ray, returned fire forcing the suspect to flee. Officer Ray then provided first aid to Cody until the paramedics could arrive. The decision was made that Cody need to be med flighted to the hospital. He is stable but currently in the ICU.
Cody has served in the National Guard since November of 2013 and still enlisted. Cody started his career in Law Enforcement as a part time officer for the City of Lonoke before being hired to full time patrol at England Police Department. Cody worked for England for approximately two years before being hired to full time patrol at Lonoke Police Department in January of this year. Cody has also served on the Lonoke Fire Department for approximately 3 years as well.
Cody has two daughters, Ella and Evie. Cody has given so much to our community in so many ways as you can tell. He has always come to others in their time of need and never asked for anything in return. He was just always happy to help people.
Cody's medical bills are paid for by the City of Lonoke. This fundraiser is simply for those who wish to donate directly to him. There is also a T-Shirt you can purchase (Pictures will be attached to this GoFundMe) with the details on how to order. The T-Shirts are $25 per shirt. $20 will go to Cody and $5 dollars goes to cover the cost of the shirt. Craftee Corner (can find them on FaceBook) is making the shirts at no cost other then material cost. The shirt always comes with a Back the Blue Decal. Money is due at the time of purchase of the shirt. Deadline to purchase is this coming Sunday (2/28/2021).
