Hey Everyone, First off thank you so much for all of the support during Chief's recovery. If you don't know his story here it is:
On the evening of Monday November 30, 2015, Chief (2-3 month old pitbull/ Shepherd Mix) was left on the front door step of Firehouse 23 in Oakland. He had been outside without our knowledge for a couple of hours in 40 degree weather. So as you can Imagine he was extremley hypothermic and mal-nourished. We brought him inside and put him in a warm shower and gave him some food and he began to show some signs of life. After that night, I immediatley took him to Adobe Veterinary Hospital the next day where they did a full work-up on him, including X-rays of a possible injury on his back right leg. After further evaluation Chief was given a good bill of health, except the leg injury. It has turned out that Chief will probably need a very expensive orthopedic surgery on the back right leg otherwise he will never be able to walk again, and his front left leg needs to be splinted because he has a hyperextension injury. I am lucky enough to have a Sister and a Brother-In law who are both Veterinarians in Los Angeles. SO......Chief and I are flying to Los Angeles Saturday December 5 where he will get evaluated by Orthopedic Specialists to receieve the care he needs.
As you all know, Veterinary Bills are extremley expensive. Even with family helping out in their expertise areas there are still equipment and drugs that need to be paid for which is very expensive. So I am asking you all for help, absolutley anything will help so that we can give this little guy a chance at a great life. There is a good line of people waiting to adopt him so we are just making sure he gets the proper care before sending him off.
