We are Emma and Lily, and we are bringing a show to the Edinburgh Fringe this August to raise awareness around Endometriosis and sufferers of chronic pain.
It is estimated that around one in ten women (176 million world-wide) have Endometriosis, causing a range of issues from infertility to chronic pain. For the condition's prevalence, the amount of research and representation in media is severely neglected, and the average time it takes to get a diagnosis is between 7 and 9 years.
We have a created a show--Of Fire and Flame--that parodies a wildly popular book genre among women, Romantasy (Fantasy Romance), to raise awareness about Endometriosis in a comedic and heart-warming manner.
Show blurb:
In 2024, Romantasy (Fantasy Romance) dominated book sales, surpassing 30 million copies sold. From A Court of Thorns and Roses to Fourth Wing, bookstores and TikTok overflowed with brooding fae warriors, reluctant heroines, formulaic titles, and enemies-to-lovers slow burns.
Anne knows these stories inside and out. She crafts her own elaborate romantasy daydream—where she is kidnapped by Dragomir, a dangerously powerful, ridiculously attractive fae, and conscripted into battle against the Wraiths. It’s absurd. It’s dramatic. And it’s easier than facing the chronic pain consuming her real life.
Fundraising:
We are raising money to help cover the costs of mounting the production, which include venue hire, production fees, press and marketing, props, and rehearsal space.
We hope you'll join us in making Of Fire and Flame a reality and are very grateful for your contribution.
Another wonderful way to support us is by sharing with any friends who might be interested in seeing the show.
We have two London preview dates: July 18th and 19th at the Hen and Chickens Theatre.
We will also be performing the show every day at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August at Gilded Balloon - Patter House. Here's a link to our show page.
