Odyssey of the Mind -NY State Competition

Odyssey of the Mind offers the unique opportunity for young people to solve

problems in a team setting. Failure is often part of the equation, and, therefore, resilience.

The little engine that could is a tried and true trope. A team of 5 young women started a team at Emma Willard to compete in the New York regionals. After months of preparation and meetings, we gathered together to show our stuff. Mother Nature had a different plan. Hit with a major ice storm, the regionals were delayed and then postponed. Experiencing a true odyssey moment, half of our team made due with no electricity or running water until the show time. Awarded second place, we were invited to the OM state finals in Syracuse in less than 2 weeks. We would appreciate any support to help defray transportation, hotel and registration fees.
