My name is Robbinjo Odum. I’m 29 years old, blessed with a beautiful 2.5 year old daughter and a newborn daughter and an amazing husband. Our family has been through unimaginable hardship since Memorial Day weekend in 2024, when I went in for what should have been a routine gall bladder removal surgery. Instead, I developed necrotizing pancreatitis—a life-threatening condition with a very high mortality rate. Surviving this disease has come with many complications, including multi-organ failure and a mass in my lung that has now spread to other parts of my body, intestinal failure, gastroparesis, and many more complications. In June of 26 we were extremely surprised to find out we were 27 weeks pregnant with another baby girl. Just days after finding out about our miracle baby we were told her has some complications. I was admitted to the hospital July 12th 2026 due to complications with my health that was high risk for both me and the baby. While admitted in the hospital I was diagnosed with severe pre eclampsia. Which led to a pre mature delivery of our baby girl on 8/19/26. After she was born we noticed that her anatomy was far more complex than expected. She was born with bladder extrophy, anal and urogenital canal fusion, and anus imperforate anus, chronic kidney disease and more. At less than 24 hours old HazelJo underwent her first operation to create her a colostomy site and mucous fistula so she can poop. Due to her complex anatomy she will have to multiple surgeries over the next several years in attempt to give her an anus opening and reconstruct her entire vagina. This will take multiple surgeries to complete, and even then she will have life long complications due to the complexity of her anatomy. Due to both my daughter and my health we had to relocate to Oklahoma City to be closer to all the specialists and the children’s hospital. Unfortunately because of that My husband had to quit his job to care for me full-time care for our newborn full time while also taking care of our 2.5 year old baby girl. This has left us in severe financial hardship. We are struggling to cover basic needs and keep our family safe and stable as we navigate these new challenges. I am now on high-flow oxygen, rely on a GJ tube and TPN for all my nutritional needs, and use a wheelchair due to severe muscle and bone deterioration. Over the past 2.5 years, my health has steadily declined, making it even harder for our little family. Now to add on a medically complex new born into the mix has put even more strain on my husband. This has left our family in shambles. We are asking for help to relieve some of the financial burden we’ve endured over the last 2.5 years, especially as my condition worsens, and As HazelJo has multiple upcoming procedures and appointments over the next several years while also needing life long medical support.
