UPDATE #2: Thank you so much for your kind donations to support our families and community in Odisha! We have raised over INR 1.7 lakhs! We will provide a Summary report regarding the utility of these funds as soon as it is available.
UPDATE #1: After our careful and diligent research, we have personally communicated with Srinivasa Sadana Venkatram of Sewa Seattle and will be donating a majority of the funds (~85%) to the highly reputable charity Sewa International (https://sewainternational.org/) specifically to maximally help in providing resources and infrastructure to the lives significantly affected by this train disaster. They will provide a fund utility report, which we will provide to you all. Secondly, we will be donating a part of the funds (~15%) to support 1-2 children who lost their parents in the train disaster through a local Odisha non-profit organization. We are currently discussing details with BBSR local community activist Sarmila Patnaik. We will update regarding the specific details once they are made available.

There has been a very horrific train disaster in Odisha, India. Tragically, there are over 280 fatalities and over 900 injuries and the numbers are only climbing. While we are unable to be there in person to support our fellow Odia families and friends, we still very much can help. Odisha Seattle Youth (OSY) is leading the fundraising efforts in the USA to aid the victims of this disaster and their families. We are working with the frontline service team right now in Balasore, Odisha, to determine the best way to direct these funds to maximize our reach and impact in supporting our community in this devastating time.
