Odisha Cyclone Relief Project

Donation protected
I was planning to do a summer project in Konark, Odisha, (a state in the eastern part of India). This project was focused on teaching LEGO robotics, to high school students, from one of the poorest areas in India. Focusing on robotics and engineering, the goal was to give them hands on experience with building and coding robots. I had been working with a local organization (FIDR) to design the program and had identified and chosen a group of twenty S.T.E.M students from four schools to participate in the program.
This plan, however, was disrupted because of Cyclone Fani. Konark was in the direct path of the cyclone. Over a million people have been displaced and many have lost their homes, as the cyclone has wiped out entire villages, many schools, including the ones in Konark.
During my visit to Konark in June, my new goal is to help speed up the recovery of the affected area, and help the students there. I am raising funds to help students, because traditional relief measures do not cover necessary school supplies for the students to return back to school. To make it worse, many schools go ignored for long periods of time after disasters, harming these students' education further.
In order to help these students get back to school to resume their education, I am raising funds to provide each student with a school bag, and supplies, including: pens, pencils, and notebooks.
I will be working with FIDR  and relief workers to ensure that all funds reach the students. I will provide receipts and evidence that the funds are used as intended.
