Odin Vidaurre's (Lesley's Dad) Memorial Service

Sometimes in life we all have hard times. When emotional pain steps in, life can become unbearable! It is at this moment that we all need to stop, re-assess and come together to help those that are in need.

Lesley is the mom of three kids with the youngest (Mia) being three years old. Lesley's dad (Odin), who was living with Lesley since his diagnosis of cancer (four years ago) helped to babysit Mia and in turn, Lesley was vigilant with being sure that Odin got to all of his doctor and chemotherapy appointments on time. This meant that there were days that Lesley would have to come into work earlier in order to leave on time - making sure her dad got to his appointments - and made sure that all of her work was completed, never complained with any tasks and always gave it her all.

As if this was not enough stress already, Lesley's husband was recently furloughed due to covid-19 making it necessary for Lesley to get a second job (which she did in the evenings and weekends) in order to make ends meet. About two-to-three weeks ago, Lesley's little one (Mia) was not feeling well. As all moms know, our little ones want us by their side when they are ill so, Lesley needed to be off for a couple of days. During this time, Lesley's dad (Odin) picked up covid-19 somewhere in the process of his doctor/chemotherapy treatments and had to quarantine with the whole family - as Odin lived with Lesley, her husband and her three girls.

About a week ago, Lesley herself started feeling very ill and was doing her best to get as much rest as possible with a three year old and an ill dad. Finally, yesterday (12/26/20) AM, the household was somewhat calm and Lesley thought it would be the perfect time to get a coid-19 test. Before leaving the house, Lesley asked her dad if he wanted anything to eat or needed anything and he said, "no" as he was laying restfully in bed. Lesley's life was to be forever changed when she returned.

As soon as she got back from her covid-19 test,  Lesley went into her dads room and he was laying lifeless in his bed. Hysterically crying from the shock, she called me (after making several important calls) trying to collect her thoughts and figure out what her next move was. Hours later, continually trying to locate a morgue that was not filled and that was somewhat financially affordable, Lesley started to realize the enormous expense of a funeral and the fact that she was having a very difficult time qualifying to finance this endeavor.

This is when it hit me that if anyone ever needed a GoFundMe, it is Lesley. Please donate to the cause of a respectful burial for her dad (Odin) and decrease the financial burden from her and her family  at this time in her life. Nothing is too small.
