Hello friends and puppy supporters! We are the proud puppy foster parents to Odin, who was abandoned sick and injured at only a few weeks old.

This fundraiser is to support KARUNA RESCUE (https://www.karunahumboldt.com), who Odin was taken in by, at their beautiful sanctuary in Kneeland, CA, where they lovingly rehabilitated him when he was sickest, and are graciously footing the bills for his extensive veterinary care.

As a small rescue (for large animals), KARUNA depends on private donations (and volunteers) and little Odin is racking up a bill the size of a horse vet bill! Please help KARUNA support Odin in his rehabilitation; let's get him growing and running on four good legs! As the saying goes, It takes a village!

Little Odin's (updated!) less-big bill:

$1,000 for imaging, labs, meds, office visits

When this puppy first presented to KARUNA, he was underweight, severely malnourished with Giardia, and had endured an unknown early trauma that injured his rear right leg--the femoral head fractured and cranial cruciate ligament (equivalent to a human ACL) torn and/or detached--consistent with either being stepped on as a young pup, or hit by a car. This is when KARUNA gave him the name Odin, that of a Viking, to instill the strength to endure his battle ahead.

UPDATE: No injury to his knee!!!

Odin is now about 3 months old, has been treated for the Giardia with antibiotics, and is now eating and pooping and putting on weight like a champ! He had femoral head and neck ostectomy surgery (FHNO), aka a "Girdlestone Operation" locally in Eureka, CA at Healing Spirit Animal Wellness Center (thank you, Dr. Sarah Green). Next, he goes to Oregon for a special knee surgery. He is expected to make a full recovery with just a little shortened hind leg and a bit of a limp.

Despite his hurdles and constant pain for most of his life so far, he is just the sweetest, good-tempered puppy who adores snuggles and delights in just laying in the grass star-gazing.

We hope this fundraiser goes ABOVE Odin's injury bill--KARUNA does so much for so many animals! When we visited a few times, there were other injured puppies, old doggies, horses, chickens and a pig named Charlotte! Your money goes directly to saving abused and abandoned animals! Please help them continue to do their work for our Humboldt critters!

More information from KARUNA RESCUE: We are a large animal rescue/sanctuary located in beautiful Kneeland, CA. Well into our third year as an active 501 (c)(3) we have helped over 70 animals in need, ranging from roosters to a Yak.

Many of our animals have come to us from neglect and abuse situations, or have just been abandoned. Most need expensive surgeries or vet care. Our goal is to never have to turn away an animal in need because of a lack of funding.
