Odi Oderson’s Spinal Surgery Fund

Hey y’all, this is Odi.
Odi is our 3 year old maltipoo and he has been diagnosed with Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD). It is a hereditary condition and it basically means he has recently experienced a “ruptured, slipped, bulging or herniated disk [in his] back.”
He has been feeling ill the past few days, shivering a lot, not eating/drinking, not wanting to go on walks, and displaying overall symptoms of being in pain.
An initial vet trip a couple days ago resulted in no diagnosis, but my sibling Sam woke up this morning and saw that Odi was paralyzed from the waist down, and was unable to walk, other than dragging his hind legs behind him.
Sam took him to a local vet and where they were referred to a neurologist. Odi was diagnosed with IVDD and is set to get testing done, as well as an MRI before surgery, hopefully today (Jan 15th) or tomorrow, at Brightcare Veterinary Group in Mission Viejo.
Odi has a 85-90% chance of recovery and being able to use his hind legs again with this surgery. He appears to be himself, but in pain.
The medical bill will range from $9-13k depending on whether any complications occur. Sam has already taken out a loan for $10k and our family’s collective stimulus checks will cover about half of these costs ($5600).
We’re reaching out for financial help to help cover the cost of Odi’s surgery. Our goal is $2,000, as we hope to collectively cover the expenses out of pocket, on a monthly basis.
We appreciate whatever you can donate, in the form of $, love, and good energy.
Hopefully Odi will be back to going on walks and hikes and getting into his usual puppy shenanigans.
Thanks for your time!
