Hello.

I am Oden Ivy. I am a 6th grader at North Hill Elementary School and have been nominated to represent my school and community this coming summer at the Jr. National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C.

The Jr. NYLC is held to honor and inspire the most exceptional middle school students in the nation, distinguished by their academic excellence, leadership potential and maturity, and to reinforce the virtues of leadership, citizenship and democracy while using Washington, D.C. as their classroom.

By attending the Jr. NYLC, I will be introduced to the important concepts of leadership that will prepare me for academic success: communication, goal setting, problem solving, and teamwork. As you can see, this will be a powerful experience, enabling me to interact with respected professionals in various fields while building relationships with students who will be my future colleagues.

Attending this program will enable me to further my interest in the fields of Science and Athletics and reach my career goals in a yet to be determined field of science. I am really excited to learn how to broaden my leadership capabilities and apply them to my life goals!

Imagine if you had been given this opportunity for a life-changing experience when you were in school and were unable to participate for lack of funds. That is why my parents and I have created this GoFundMe page today.

My participation in the program depends on whether I can raise $4000 to cover all the costs. The program tuition is $2300, which covers room & board as well as the seminars and other parts of the program during my stay in D.C. The travel and expenses portion of my trip has been estimated to be about $1500-$1700. I am investing every dollar I can of my own money to make sure I don’t miss out on this unique experience. I am hoping that you will consider assisting me with any part of these costs. 

My tuition of $2300 must be paid no later than March 1, 2019.
