To say the O'Dell family have been through a lot may be an understatement.
Back in the early 1980s, Doug and Shelee O'Dell met while attending Oregon State University and went on to marry each other a year after graduation. Through three decades of marriage, Doug and Shelee had five kids together: Caroline (31), Chris (29) Thomas (17), Michael (15), and Clare (13). In 2014, their mother, Shelee, began to have health problems resulting in multiple surgeries and she was eventually diagnosed with cancer (stage 4 melanoma) in 2015. Later in the year, Shelee O'Dell passed away, at age 52, leaving behind her beloved husband and five children.
As the family began the grieving process and with a couple of years passing by, the kids began to heal from the loss of their mother. The healing process was short lived. In 2018 their father, Doug, was found to have a fast growing tumor in which was later determined as a high-grade Glioblastoma. Doug's average life expectancy is 10-15 months as of November, 2018. The news of their father has devastated all five kids who are now faced with the likelihood of life without either parent.
The family was in the process of playing catch up on Shelee's medical expenses and now faces the heavy weight of Doug's medical and care costs. We are asking anyone and everyone to help the O'Dell family out by giving any amount to help, not only cover medical expenses incurred, but also help support the three teenage children who will likely lose both of their parents before adulthood. The older siblings, Caroline and Chris, need your help as they will assume full responsibility for the kids and the O'Dell expenses. Please do whatever you can to help ease this unfortunate time for the O'Dell family!
