The beautiful that is my Mother
Donation protected

Starting in 2014, my mother suffered what would be her first stroke. Luckily she didn’t suffer any permanent paralysis and was able to return to her normal self with the exception of being diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and congestive heart failure. Since then my mom’s health has deteriorated and led her to have more health complications that made it difficult for her to continue working. She struggled for years with her heart condition and then she started suffering from crippling lower back pain, extreme stomach pain, and increase swelling in her lower legs, which we thought were due to her heart condition and having extreme difficulty urinating even with the prescribed diuretic medicine. Then fast forward to last year in December 2018 right before Christmas, my mom lost consciousness and was taken to the ER, she had a clot in the back of her brain, her blood pressure wouldn’t rise and she didn’t know who she was, who her kids were, what year it was... she spent a good amount of time in the hospital and the doctors were able to slowly unblock the clot, so once again my mother was fortunate enough to pull through. But not long after she got out of the hospital, she was hospitalized again right after New Year’s. After multiple hospitalizations throughout the years we finally got the diagnosis that my mom has stage 2 cervical cancer.
It was discovered that the cancer was the cause of her crippling lower back pain, stomach pain and swelling in her legs because it was affecting her kidney functions. The cancer was pressing against her nerves and veins that carries in blood and out, with it being compressed the water that is part of the blood is left behind causing my mom to swell, causing circulation to be compromised mainly in her right leg. Doctors tried to put in place stents to relieve the obstruction, but the surgeons were unsuccessful at putting the stents in due to heavy inflammation so they opted for a nephrostomy tube inserted through her back into her right kidney. Finally in February, my mom was able to start radiation and chemo, which was hindered due to her heart condition that added complications making it very difficult for her to move and go from session to session. It wasn’t easy but she handled it every day like a champ until recently and now remains hospitalized. Her immune system has been compromised due to the cancer treatment which she contracted an infection and a virus that is ravaging her body along with the cancer. She is unable to move, eat or drink much right now and I don’t want her to give up the thought that she will recover and survive this even though she is in constant pain.
Please help my mom find the strength to keep going, for her not to worry about anything else other than she is going to get better. Please help me remind my mom she can't stop fighting to get better, to not give up, and that she is greater than this pain and suffering, the cancer and all the complications she is currently going through. Help me cherish the beauty that my mom possesses so that she can continue to share it with the world. My mom means everything to me and my siblings and your help will mean more than you will ever know. We cannot do this without help. Please donate, spread the word and give whatever you can to save the life of a woman whose love and self-sacrifice made me who I am today. Even a small amount will help. THANK YOU!

My mother has the kind of beauty that does not end where your sense of sight can see. Her beauty has a tangible meaning to me, it has a purpose, and it has the ability to touch other people’s lives. It is raw and unfiltered…that’s the beauty I see in her…many people can argue that a smile can't change the world, but my mother's smile certainly changes mine...
