October Challenge
In July 2019 life got a bit shit when a lump decided to squat in my tit and start an invasion throughout my body.
So I gathered my epic army of awesome docs, nurses, family and friends and we began battle.
Luckily, despite being the most aggressive type of breast cancer we caught it early. But that doesn’t mean the treatment plan is simple. In the words of my doc I’ve got the ‘all inclusive package’.
I’ve been poked, prodded, stabbed, zapped, cut up and drugged up more than an alien dissection:
2 operations
2 rounds of fertility preservation (with 21 eggs in the bank)
5 months of chemo
20 sessions of radiotherapy
1 year of targeted treatment
Endless scans
And been poked with more needles than you could possibly ever imagine.
And to top it off there's a global pandemic and so Boris put me under house arrest for 10 weeks and I’ve spent most of the last 6 months isolating.
My journey is by no means over but I can see the finish line......
I couldn't have got through the last 15 months without the support of 3 incredible charities Barbells for Boobs, Trekstock and Willow.
So this Breast Cancer Awareness month I've set myself a challenge to try and raise funds for these incredible charities.
It wont be easy, especially as I'm still having treatment but that's the point right....... it's a challenge.
So I'll be doing the hard work and all I ask from you is that you can part with any pennies you can. I know times are really hard at the mo but charities are really struggling with the cancellation of events and fundraising activities all over the globe.
Each week I'll be taking on a physical challenge and fingers crossed we'll raise a huge amount of money at the same time.
So what am I doing..........?
Snowdon hike
Willow 10k
Battle Cancer - CrossFit Comp
Emirates Stadium step climb
Trekstock Trek
Each of these charities have been a massive part of mental and physical recovery and I couldn't have done it without them.
Barbells for Boobs
barbellsforboobs.org
We are providing support and education to incorporate physical activity as the foundation for breast cancer risk reduction, treatment, and survivorship. We are improving the quality of life and outcomes in individuals impacted by breast cancer.
Trekstock
trekstock.com
Trekstock gets adults in their 20s and 30s moving again physically, socially and psychologically after cancer has stopped them in their tracks.
Willow
willowfoundation.org.uk
Willow is the only national charity working with seriously ill young adults aged 16 to 40 to fulfil uplifting and unforgettable Special Days.
Now I've waffled on long enough, time to get my sweat on and raise loads of money.
BRING IT ON!!!
