My name is Octavia Rose Hingle, and I’m a Bay-Area dance artist and choreographer. Right now I’m a participant in the Resident Artist Workshop with SAFEHouse for the Arts in San Francisco. I’m raising funds for The Gills Beneath our Flesh–– a performance project that inhabits visions of a future Bay Area completely flooded by climate change.
Its been an immense privilege to work with a fantastic team of dancers, costume designers and videographers. While we were unable to receive grant funding for the project, it felt really important to pay our collaborators fairly for their time and labor. We are reaching out to you to make this possible and bring our vision to life. All money raised will go directly to the collaborators and production materials. Support queer, disability–inclusive dance making in your community!
Please watch the video above, share this campaign and consider making a donation if it is within your means. <3

Note: In this rehearsal and performance process, I have been using a wheelchair for dancing and accessible transportation to and from rehearsals. I'd like to address this– I am not a full time wheelchair user, but I do sometimes use one due to joint issues and chronic pain. It is not my wish to claim or represent an experience/identity of wheelchair use that isn’t mine. Rather, I’d like to share my dancing and artistry with you in the way that feels most accessible and safe for me in the place and time. Thanks for reading and and please contact me at [email redacted] with any questions or concerns~
