Ocracoke Catastrophe-Help the Carter’s rise up!

Dorian destruction! Brydget and Adam are a young couple on Ocracoke. Adam works for the county at the Ocracoke Convenience Center and Brydget is a full time Mom. They have 4 beautiful children. Adam works two jobs to provide them with his young family with an amazing life! They don’t have much, but these young parents make sure the children have fun every day!!
Brydget moved out of NY to Ocracoke in 2015 after losing her best friend, her 24 year old brother. She met Adam there, they fell in love and began a new journey together! They bought their first home on Ocracoke in 2016! They patched and painted for weeks! Spent all the savings they had to invest in their future and start a family!! They were so proud of their efforts and committed to making their house a home for their family. This modest home was where 4 year old Dilynn took her first steps, where Owen 8, Bella 6 and Dilynn spread reindeer food to attract Santa’s sleigh, planted jelly beans to grow lollipops with the magic of Easter. It’s where they learned to ride their bikes, hunted fire flies, ate s’mores and loved and lived life to the fullest. It’s where all the kids started school, and it’s where Baby Tannon joined this wonderful family last Christmas!
Hurricane Dorian changed everything for this young family in 2 hours! Due to the fast rising and forceful tide, all they have left of their home and belongings are the memories. Brydget says “I am thankful for every memory. I am thankful that my family is safe and hopeful for our future and what is to come wherever it may be.... however I am truly crushed how fast everything we owned was taken from us.”
Today the children have no beds, no books, no toys, no clothes, no home, no school. Still Brydget says “Pray for our neighbors. Pray for our paths . God bless.”
I know Brydget and Adam are too giving to ask for themselves and Brydget is even organizing relief efforts for the island while they wait to be able to go back to Ocracoke and help others. Once there they will collect their scattered belongings and throw them all away. I’m sure they will be totally overwhelmed, and the sight of the devastation of Dorian will once again wash over them. I also know Brydget and Adam don’t have the means to pay for their destroyed life on Ocracoke including their mortgage, while they try to find a place to live and start replacing the necessities. Brydget resorts to tears when she thinks about the daunting days ahead. Please help me help them-RISE UP!!!
